Echinacea herb consists of fresh, above-ground parts, harvested at flowering time, of Echinacea purpurea (L.) Moench [Fam. Asteraceae].
Contains 1.2% to 3.1% cichoric acid in the flowers.
Contains other caffeic acid derivatives.
Contains flavonoids, namely rutoside; alkylamides; alkaloids, including glycine betaine, polysaccharides, and glycoproteins.
Common names: Purple coneflower, Snakeroot.
Unless otherwise recommended
Internal: Daily dosage: 6ml. to 9ml. expressed juice; equivalent preparations.
External: Semi-solid preparations containing at least 15% pressed juice.
Duration of administration: Preparations for internal and external use: Not longer than 8 weeks.
