Note: Primary traditional uses of cat's claw in Peru involve various inflammatory diseases, treatment of gastric ulcers and tumors, gonorrhea, dysentery, arthritis, intestinal disorders, cancers of the urinary tract, and contraception. In the last decade, scientific studies have confirmed the anti-inflammatory and anti-mutagenic activities. Additional studies suggest cat's claw's possible anti-cancer and immunostimulant properties, which may lend some credibility to certain traditional claims.
