What is ginseng asian?

Asian (Chinese or Korean) ginseng root consists of the dried main and lateral root and root hairs of Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer [Fam. Araliaceae]. "White" ginseng consists of the dired root (often with the outer skin peeled off). "Red" ginseng is prepared by steaming the fresh, unpeeled root before drying. The root contains at least 1.5 percent ginsenosides (saponins), calculated as ginsenoside Rg1, peptides, polysaccharides, and antioxidants (maltol, salicylic acid, vanillic acid.)

Common names: Korean ginseng, Chinese ginseng.
