Standardized products are used for various microcirculatory diseases.
Major: Eye conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, night blindness, and poor ability to adapt to bright light. Varicose veins. Hemorrhoids, particulary during pregnancy and in the elderly.
Minor: Nonspecific, acute diarrhea. Diarrhea, especially mild cases of enteritis. Poor circulation. Dyspepsia and diarrhea in infants. Inflammatory conditions in the oral cavity.
Actions: Astringent, diuretic, hypoglycemic, vasoprotective, antiedemic, and antidiarrhetic.
Note: Bilberry's pharmacologic activity has centered on the anthocyanosides, which are potent antioxidants.
