What is niacin?

Niacin is a water-soluble B vitamin. Niacin is the common name for two compounds: nicotinic acid and niacinamide. Niacin, nicotinic acid, and niacinamide are not related to nicotine in tobacco.


Current research on niacin?

Heart Disease: Niacin (as nicotinic acid) lowers blood cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol (the "bad" cholesterol), increases HDL-cholesterol (the "bad" cholesterol), and helps reduce the risk of developing heart disease.
