What is evening primrose oil?

The unrefined oil is expressed from the seeds of Oenothera biennis L. [Fam. Onagraceae].

The oil is characterized by its high content of essential fatty acids (EFA), particulary cis-linoleic acid (LA) and gamma linoleic acid (GLA).

How much evening primrose do I need?

Daily dosage: For a licensed EPO product (these doses are based on a standardized GLA content of 8%):

For atopic eczema: 4g. to 6g. for adults. 2g to 4g for children.

For cyclical and non-cyclical mastalgia: 3g. to 4g.

For PMS: 3g. daily.

Duration of Application: A patient may need to receive EPO for a period of three months before they see a response. (EPO is a long-term therapy and patients should not expect to see immediate results).
