What is dong quai root?

Dong Quai consists of the dried roots of angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels [Fam. Apiaceae].

Principal constituents of the roots are ferulic acid and ligustilide.

Herb contains a significant quantity of vitamin B12 and vitamin E.

Contain phytoestrogens.

Common names: Dang gui, Tang Kuei, Chinese angelica root.

Daily doses: 4.5g. to 12g. tinctured, in extracts, pills, and powders.

Dysmenorrhea: One tablet (0.5g. of extract) twice daily, or capsules equal to 4.5g to 9g. of the dried root.
